Startup Scaling Checklist

A guide by O’Side Systems to help founders move from MVP to sustainable growth

1. Product Readiness

  • Have we validated that the problem we’re solving is real and painful for customers?
  • Do we have clear product-market fit indicators (engagement, retention, revenue signals)?
  • Have we prioritized a core feature set instead of chasing every request?
  • Is our architecture designed to handle 10x growth without a total rebuild?

2. Technical Foundations

  • Is our codebase maintainable (modular, tested, documented)?
  • Do we have version control, CI/CD, and automated tests in place?
  • Are we tracking system health with monitoring, logging, and alerting?
  • Have we budgeted for scaling infrastructure (cloud costs, security, compliance)?

3. Team & Leadership

  • Does every team member know who owns what?
  • Do we have onboarding materials so new hires can get productive quickly?
  • Are we delegating effectively, or is everything bottlenecked with the founders?
  • Do we have mentors or advisors guiding technical and leadership growth?

4. Process & Culture

  • Do we have a lightweight planning rhythm (weekly/bi-weekly sprints or check-ins)?
  • Is feedback (from users and the team) captured and acted on regularly?
  • Are we measuring progress with clear KPIs (not just shipping features)?
  • Are we fostering a culture where people feel safe to experiment and speak up?

5. Market & Growth Alignment

  • Do we understand our ideal customer profile (ICP)?
  • Is there a clear go-to-market strategy (sales, marketing, partnerships)?
  • Do we have systems to collect customer feedback and feed it back into the roadmap?
  • Have we planned how to scale support and customer success?

6. Founder Readiness

  • Are we clear on our next 12–18 month vision?
  • Do we have clarity on whether to raise funding or bootstrap further?
  • Have we built a trusted circle (advisors, peers, mentors) to sanity-check decisions?
  • Are we personally pacing ourselves to avoid burnout as the company scales?
